January favourites | 2015

Hellooooo,

This is my last post of January and wow it's flown by hasn't it? Here are all the things that I've been loving throughout January, a lot of them I've mentioned in previous posts so you may be familiar with them.

These have been my go to lip products over the space of this whole month. The blistex lip balm is extremely good as it's been keeping my lips nice and smooth, the complete opposite of chapped. This is a huge achievement for my lips as they're normally chapped whether it's winter or summer, hot or cold. The lip colour that I've been using is this no7 lip crayon, I don't know the name of the colour but it's so pretty. The best way to describe it is, your lips but better. You can wear it with a lot of makeup, natural makeup or no makeup. It really feels like it moisturizes my lips rather than drying them out like lip products sometimes do.

I've been using nail envy by OPI for the majority of this month and it's so good. I've done a review on this so if you want to read more about it then you can do. I've been loving this exfoliater by no7. I use it about twice a week and it leaves my skin feeling smooth and clean. I've been trying to cut back on wearing makeup this month, so I've barley worn foundation but the fit me concealer has more than made up for it by brightening the circles under my eyes and covering blemishes.

These three hair products have been my best friends this month. I did a post on my hair are routine if you're interested in reading more about them. I love them so much and I highly recommend them to you.

I've been using this body butter near enough every day of this month. It smells so chocolatey and heavenly, mmm. It's also been making my skin smell nice and feel super soft.

The fragrance that I've been wearing a lot this month is angel by Victoria's Secret. I've nearly ran out which makes me sad but I'll definitely get another soon. I don't really know how to describe the smell other than very nice and girly.

That's all of my favourites for January, I hope you enjoyed reading. What have you been loving this month,

Love from,
Chloe xo

Weekend in Dublin

Hellooooo,

This weekend I went to Dublin with my mum as an early birthday present (I'm sixteen next month). It was so so nice and I really want to go back. It's far bigger than I thought it was and it has a whole mix of modernness and cobbled streets with vintage stores. Here are some of my photos:

OPI nail strengthener review

Helloooo,

Today I'm doing a review on the opi nail strengthener. I first used this eleven days ago (I mentioned it in my pamper routine blogpost) and I've seen such a huge difference in such a short space of time that I just have to review it.

The top picture is from eleven days ago and the bottom is from today. I think the difference is so noticeable and I can't wait to see what they're like after a month or so. My nails look a lot healthier and they've grown a lot quicker and thicker than normal. They feel so much stronger and harder as well.

What I've been doing is two coats and then every other day I've done one coat, when I reached seven days I took it off and repeated the stages again. I haven't worn a coloured nail varnish since using it but I'm going to tonight and I bet it's going to go on so much easier and better than normal.

After applying it I've been using this no7 hand cream.

I highly recommend the nail strengthener, I really don't think you'll regret it and it makes your nails look nice when you don't have any coloured nail varnish on.

Ooooh, I'm starting to plan my posts out for February. Have you got any that you'd like me to do? Comment below.

My haircare routine

Helloooo,

This post is going to be centered around my hair routine because I've never had one until recently and I can't even describe how much easier my hair is to manage. I guess you could say I have quite long hair and it's curly so I find it really hard to handle. Now, my hairs become just so much easier to maintain, it's less knotty and my curls are more defined and less curly.

I'll start with the basics. I wash my hair either every two days or every three days, depending on what it's like. I rarely use a hair dryer and I straighten my hair once a week but sometimes I go a while without straightening it.

The first product I use (after wetting my hair, obviously) is the umberto giannini pure curls detangling shampoo. I don't use a lot but I use enough to cover my hair from roots to ends. I leave it in for about a minute and then wash it out.
Once I've washed the shampoo out I squeeze the water out to make my hair dryer. Making my hair damp means that I don't have to use as much conditioner and it moisture sit better. I put the curl enhancing conditioner from my ears to my ends and leave it in for about ten to twenty minutes.
Once I've washed the conditioner out, I squeeze my hair dry and scrunch this nourishing oil by umberto giannini. This smells soooo nice, the best way I can describe it what you'd expect a hairdressers to smell (extremely nice, I wish you could smell it). This has been helping to make my hair less frizzy and put my ends in better condition.

I then use this scrunching jelly, this is what has really really been helping my curls. I don't know if it's just me but as my hairs gotten longer my curls aren't as curly, if that makes any sense? But, this is what's been getting my curls back to how they used to be and I know it'll be a repurchase.

After a day or two of not washing my hair I use dry shampoo by batiste, I'm sure you've heard of it. It's super affordable and really helps with extra volume.

Thank you for reading, I'll be doing my next post on Thursday. It's a review.

All my love,
A British Brunette xo

Ten things that make me happy

Hellooooo,

So today's post is really short but hey ho. A lot of people write down their ten reasons to be happy every morning and/or night because it supposedly puts you in a more positive mindset. I think it's a really good idea but I literally have no times in the mornings and I have loads to do at night so I thought I'd compile my ten reasons into one post.

one. Coffee. I know it's just a drink but coffee makes me so unbelievably happy, is that weird?? It's just so nice and warm and mmmm

two. Pretty Little Liars. I'm watching it now and I can't believe what's just happened WHAT!!!! I won't say incase I spoil it for anyone but if you haven't ever watched it I highly recommend it.

three. Summer. I used to think I preferred winter but no, I definitely prefer summer and I can't wait any longer for it to come around.

four. I love my bed and sleep, who doesn't? My bed is so so comfy and I just love getting into it and being all warm. I hate when I'm tired but overthinking and can't sleep, it's so annoying.

five. This sounds really cliche and cheesy but my friends, particularly my bestfriend. I actually don't know what I'd do without her, we really annoy each other but when we we're together all we do is laugh and talk about anything and everything.

six. Makeup. I probably wouldn't of started this blog if it wasn't for makeup so I HAVE to include it. I really like how you can decorate your face and make it look like however you want.

seven. Evenings. I really like evenings, especially rainy ones. It's so nice just getting tucked into bed and watching a movie ahhhhh I just love it.

eight. Traveling. Visiting new places makes me really happy.

nine. Car journeys.

ten. Finally, the beach. The beach makes me happy because it such a nice place to be.

Thank you for reading, what are ten things that make you happy?

How to keep organized

Hellooooo,

Today I'm going to be telling you about how I keep organized because without it my life would be all over the place. I have my GCSEs coming up which is of course stressful and needs a lot of revision. Then I have this blog, I want it to become my little area where I can communicate with readers. So, I need organization to help me manage my posts. Then I have little things to organize like: going on jogs, meeting people, going places etc... Basically, without organizing I wouldn't be able to manage any of the above so I thought I'd share some of my tips with you.

01. I think one of the most important things is transferring what you need to do from your head onto a piece of paper. How are you meant to manage what you're doing if it's all jumbled in your head? Whether you write it out onto a mind map or you do a list, it doesn't matter just as long as you have it there in front of you. This always seems daunting to me because I know that I have a lot to do BUT when I've written it out it's far easier to manage.

02. The next thing I do is take into account what I have to do and decide when I'm going to do it. Personally, I like to use the calendar on my iPad as it links with the calendar on my phone, then I always know what I'm doing and when I'm doing it. This is what my calendar looks like:

As you can see it says what subjects I'm revising on what days. It says what days I go on a jog. It also says which days I'm writing a blogpost (Tuesday's, Thursday's and Sunday's). As well as that, I write what the blogpost is going to be about e.g "How to keep organized". I then have one off things wrote out for example "DUBLIN". I'm going there next weekend (look out for a blogpost). Has anyone got any recommendations for it?

This is what the calendar looks like on my phone:

03. The third step that is the thing that I used to avoid doing is, check your calendar everyday. I used to avoid this because then I didn't have to do whatever I had planned as I essentially "forgot".

I really hoped that my tips have helped you as I've found that since I've been following them I've been A LOT more organized. What do you do to keep organized?

Top three pen eyeliners

Helloooo everybody,

Today you've joined me to read all about my views and comparisons on three different eyeliners. The eyeliners I will be talking about are by no7, seventeen and soap and glory. All three of them are so good depending on what look you're going for.

L-R: No7 stay precise £8.00, Seventeen Make your mark £4.00, Soap and glory supercat £6.00

All of the eye liners are around the same size. However, the seventeen one is slightly smaller but it's cheaper so I'm guessing that's why. The packaging is quite simplistic for the no7 and seventeen eyeliners yet the soap and glory one is really bold, quirky and girly. I really like it.

Make your mark is probably the best out of the three to create a bold wing look, the colour is a wet black which really brings out your eyes and makes it more bold. Stay precise is my favourite for when I want to do a simple look without having too thick mascara. Supercat is amazing for either of them looks and more, which is why I like it so much. Considering it only costs £6.00 I think it's definitely worth the buy.

In terms of which eyeliners are my favourite, soap and glory is my favourite, then seventeen then no7.

Thank you for reading, I hope you've now got new ideas for the next eyeliner product you're going to buy.

My Pamper Night

Helloooo,

Today I thought I'd tell you all about my pamper night routine. I think it's so important to have a pamper night at least once a week where you can just completely relax and shut everything off. I aim to try and do this once or twice a week, depending on how much time I have. Personally, I think it's so therapeutic and a crucial part of my beauty regime.

To start my pamper nights I'll always take my make up off. If you're interested in seeing how I do that then check out my last blogpost where I write all about my skincare routine. If I'm having a pamper night I'll normally always exfoliate my face. It's probably the only time I do it in the week which makes my skin feel extra clean and refreshed.

I then run a bath. I don't know about you but if I'm having a pamper night I can't have a shower, I think it completely defeats the idea of being relaxing. Anyway, who wants to stand up when they can lay down in a comfort of warmth? In the bath I usually put either a bath bomb in or bubble bath. Also, I have to have a glass of water to cool me down otherwise the heat of the bath makes me feel really dizzy. Does anyone else get this?

Its not a pamper night if you don't apply a face mask, who's with me? Depending on how my skins feeling/looking, I'll either choose a clay one or peel off one. This time I used the clay mask. It's a detox mask and oh my, it's so good. It smells amazing as well, like berries.

Whilst I have my face mask on I wash my hair. I'm loving using the Umberto Giannini curl friends at the moment. I won't go into too much detail about it as I'm planning on doing a review but it leaves my hair smelling so nice and feeling super soft.
Once my hairs all washed I use two soap and glory products, clean on me and the scrub of your life. Clean on me is quickly becoming one of my favourites, it's a body wash that smells really good and it's moisturising. The scrub of your life has been making my skin so soft, I can't even put into words how much I highly recommend this product to you.

When I'm all finished in the bath I moisturise. Firstly I use a sweet obsessions body butter, it deeply moisturises my skin and leaves me smelling of chocolate (Which is always a benefit). Then I use heel genius by soap and glory. This product is so underrated, my heels have never felt so soft. Then I use a Nivea hand cream. I use these products on a daily basis and they're working wonders for me. Once I've finished moisturising I normally get changed into comfy pyjamas and fluffy socks.

I then light some candles in my room.
Normally, I'd paint my nails a colour but at the moment I'm trying out the OPI nail strengthener so that's what I painted my nails with. Has anyone else tried his product out?
I then get into bed and either read, listen to music or watch Netflix and YouTube. I decided to watch Netflix because I'm so hooked on Pretty Little Liars at the moment.
That's my pamper night, thank you for reading.

A British Brunette xo

My skincare routine | Morning & Night

Helloooooo. Today I'm writing about my skincare routine which as I finally think I've found all of the right products for my skin. I used to just take my make up of with a wipe (the horror) and then go to bed thinking that my face was all clean and fresh. How oblivious was I? Now I'm finally seeing all he benefits of a skin care routine and I highly recommend you get one (if you haven't already). Your skin will start to get better especially if you drink water, eat healthy and try not to wear foundation every day.

Both morning and night I wash my face with a Nivea cleanser. I really like it because it's gentle on my skin and I don't feel like I'm covering my face with loads of harsh chemicals that are going to break me out. After I've cleansed I use a garnier gel wash. This just seems to liven up my face and even out my skin tone. At night I use the garnier refreshing toner, this is so so good. The reason why I don't use it twice a day is because I found that it was breaking me out so I completely stopped using it but then my skin went too oily and broke me out. Also, I only use the toner on my t zone.

After I've washed and toned my face I apply the no7 eye serum to my eyelids and under my eyes, after I've rubbed that in I use the no7 eye cream. Before I got these I never realised how much my eyes were lacking in moisture and softness. I used to get quite bad dark circles under my eyes as well but these have been working wonders and sorting that out.

I then use these two no7 products to moisturise my face. In the mornings I use the day cream and at night I use the night cream (obviously).

Below are some products that aren't part of my daily skincare routine but I still use:

I recently picked up the L'oreal Paris micellear water after hearing such good reviews about it, who would like me to review it? Anyway, I've been using this when I've been wearing makeup (face makeup like: foundation, bronzer, powder etc...) as I find that cleansers and face washes don't fully remove makeup and I'm trying to completely stop using face wipes because of the harsh chemicals in them.

Another thing I've been using recently is this eye makeup remover by No7.

Finally, you've guessed it, it's ANOTHER No7 product. I use this exfoliater once or twice a week as I think it's really important to remove all traces of dry skin and throughly clean your pores. This is such a good product and it's so gentle on my skin which is sometimes quite hard to find with exfoliates.

So, that's my skincare routine. What's yours?

A British Brunette xo

Soap and glory mascara | Review

Hellooooo,

Today I am reviewing a mascara (probably the best one I've ever used). It's the thick and fast mascara by soap and glory and it definitely lives up to its name, you can get thick luscious lashes in no time at all.

The mascara is £10.00 which I don't think is bad at all considering most high street mascaras are between £6.00 and £10.00. I definitely think they could charge more for the product without it being "overpriced" because it's totally worth it.
The packaging is quite simple as it just has a black background with bold pink writing across it which really stands out. I quite like the simplistic design as a think they've made it look girly with a bold edgy look to it.
Now, for the MOST important thing. How does it make my eyelashes look? Well they most certainly grow in length and thicken which is what I mainly look for in a mascara. All you really need to do is about three or four coats and you'll be left with these long lashes that are full of volume and really make your eyelashes stand out. I wouldn't recommend using it on your lower lashes as I think you'd end up with them going really long and thick, creating a spidery look. I really think that this should be part of your make up collection, you won't regret it.
If you're interested then head over to this link: http://www.boots.com/en/Soap-Glory-8482-Thick-Fast%C2%99-Super-Volume-Mascara-Superjet-Black_1238274/

Thank you for reading, I know it's short but I just had to review this mascara and tell you all about it.
