London

I didn't write a blogpost last week but I have the best excuse ever, I was in London. London is such an amazing place, everywhere you turn there is something going on or something to look at. The best part? There are Starbucks everywhere. This may sound weird but I am in love with London, one day I will live there because the city feels like home. I don't know what it is that I love about London, maybe it's the culture and all the different people there or maybe it's just the constant buzz of it and knowing that you're in a city that never sleeps. So, you get the idea and you get why I HAVE to do a post recording my city break. Just to warn you - Expect a lot of photos.

The first day (Monday) we travelled up to London from Yorkshire on the megabus. I slept for most of the journey so it flew by. Once we got to there we spent a lot of time faffing (is that a legit word?) about with oyster cards and figuring out which train/tube we needed to get to the hotel and of course we finally made it to the hotel after what seemed like hours of wheeling my suitcase around and hauling it up flights of stairs. When we got to our hotel we snacked on food a bit and then went out to a Turkish restaurant.

For the first full day there we just chilled out and went to a cafe in the morning, I had the best chocolate milkshake ever and some pancakes. Then, me and my bestfriend and her dads friends daughter (woah complicated) popped out into Romford, I brought a new top which I ended up wearing the next day. For the rest of the day we went to Ray's (my bestfriend Poppy's dad) friends house and ordered a takeaway.

The next day (Wednesday) was my favourite day, from start to finish. We woke up and got dressed, yano all the typical morning stuff. Then we went and got a subway and then got on the subway (get it?). We headed into central London for the day which was really nice, it was super hot as well which was an added bonus. I ended up taking so many pictures because everything just looks so nice. After we'd finished wandering around, we got a Starbucks and then headed to the hotel. The night time of this day was also really good because we made friends with these Germans that were on a school trip. We then ended up running down the street in shorts and socks at about one in the morning to go and get a takeaway, we then ended up meeting loads of people and didn't end up getting in until five in the morning (oops).

On the last day we woke up a bit late because of barley having any sleep, oops. Anyway, we had a chilled day and just went and looked around shops and got a starbucks. Also, the room was looking a lot messier on that day. At the night time we went to Ray's friends and got a takeaway (I swear I ate my entire weight and more in takeaways). The next day we travelled back to Ray's and spent a few nights there. I'm so appreciative of him for taking me and I can't wait to see you again London, bye for now.

Pillow talk; positivity

I'm think of setting up a series called "Pillow talk". I know right, how original? I'm going to aim to do at least one or two posts a month for pillow talk and it'll be a range of different topics. Today I'm writing about positivity and sharing with you all my tips on how to be positive. Prepare yourself with a hot drink and some popcorn because this is going to be a long post.

I'm a firm believer that you can choose your own happiness and it's true. When I used to hear people say that a few years ago I'd just think "But you don't understand" blah blah blah. Of course, shit happens and you are going to be sad about it BUT positive thinking means that you can deal with it far better and you can figure out what's important and whether it's really worth getting upset about. Below I have eight rules, if you follow these then you will slowly but surely become more positive.

POSITIVE THOUGHTS - CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS

Positive thinking is probably the most important thing to do to be positive. It's such an easy thing to say but not an easy thing to do because let's face it, we've all felt sorry for ourselves at some point in our lives and we haven't wanted to do anything about it. So how do you go about positive thinking? It's all about changing your negative thoughts and turning them positive.

I used to think negative all the time but now I try my hardest to think positively because I appreciate everything so much more. For example, I used to always think about the worst possible thing that could happen and get myself all worked up about it but now, I think about the best thing that could happen and even if it does go badly, does it really matter that much. Also, I try to appreciate every single minute that I have. For example, if I'm in a situation that's really boring or I just don't like in general, I remind myself that it's not really that bad because I'm able to be there and one day when I'm dying (sorry for the morbidness) I'm going to want to go back to that exact boring moment where I still had the rest of my life ahead of me. Does that make any sense? Probably not.

Something else that helps is instead of focusing on what you don't have, focus on what you do have. This is basically reminding yourself of how lucky you are. Last week I went on about an hour walk (because I had to) and it was just ughhhh but then I thought "some people would do anything to have the ability to walk, I'm lucky that I can". That probably seems really weird but it helps me. Also, I always try and remind myself how lucky I am that I have a bed, water, food etc...

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVITY

My next point is to surround yourself with positivity. If you're not happy then there is a reason for it and that reason can be changed if you figure out what it is. A lot of times we surround ourselves with negativity without realising it, such as negative people and so on.

So basically, surround yourself with people, books, food, culture, music and anything else that makes you feel happy. Anything that makes you feel shit about yourself, get rid of it because you don't need it, I promise.

DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF

A lot of people compare themselves on a daily basis to other people and I think this is so sad because what another person looks like doesn't and shouldn't effect how you feel about yourself, their achievements don't make yours mean any less. What I find helps with this is when you notice yourself comparing yourself to someone else, list five things that you like about yourself and then find five things you like about them and then remind yourself that that person has things that you don't have and you have things that they don't have but that's okay because it doesn't make you worth any less. Tell yourself that you love yourself, really big yourself up and eventually you will begin to be happy in your own skin and accept yourself.

Comparing yourself often works both ways and sometimes we end up putting other people down and building ourselves up, this isn't okay either. Whenever you notice yourself doing this just remind yourself that everyone is equal, you're no better than them and that's the way it should be. I truly believe that when you're fully secure in yourself you don't feel the need to put other people down whether this be through your thoughts or saying it to them. So basically, don't use other people's flaws to make you feel better about yourself because that isn't okay.

TREAT YOURSELF

When you're feeling down and upset and you're struggling to think and feel positively, it's important to treat yourself and really look after yourself. This could be through eating your favourite meal or watching your favourite film, whatever it is, do it. Depending on what kind of a mood you're in t could take an hour or a day or maybe even longer to make you feel a bit happier again but however long it is, you should take that time.

Some of the things that I like to do when I'm feeling down are: Watch something funny like the inbetweeners or an idiot abroad, write my thoughts down in my journal, have a pamper day/night, listen to music etc...

EXERCISE AND HEALTHY EATING

Exercise and healthy eating have a huge part to play when it comes to positivity. For starters, exercise releases endorphins so it's bound to make you feel happy. Also, eating healthily and exercising makes me feel better about myself as I'm more energetic and confident. However, don't let this stop you from eating things that you want, if you want cake then eat it because a chocolate fudge cake has never made anyone feel upset has it? The important thing is to not overdo it, it's all about having balance.

BE KIND

Being kind to other people and yourself will impact your mood positively. Things like offering to help people, holding the door open for a stranger, complimenting people and thinking nice things about people will help you to feel happier about yourself, inside and out. Along with being kind to other people you have to be kind yourself. Make sure you remind yourself of your achievements, your goals. Look in the mirror and find everything you dislike about yourself, find a reason to love it and tell yourself that you love it and that you love yourself.

ALLOW NEGATIVITY

This probably seems like an odd thing for me to write after I've written six tips on how not to be negative and I still mean them but, in order to be positive you have to figure out the things that are genuinely getting you down and try your hardest to fix them and if you can't fix them then try your hardest to fix them. Basically, if you keep all your feelings bottled up then you become a bomb and one day you will explode. The best thing to do is cry if you want to cry, rant if you want to rant, get your feelings out and speak to people, it'll help. But, if it's something that doesn't matter that much try to not let it bother you.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

Finally, practice everything that I've listed above and one day thinking positively will come naturally to you and no one will be able to bring you down because you'll just be like "Bitch please, I'm the happiest little thing ever, bye lol".

I hope this post made sense and it's not too over the place. If you have any topics that you want me to discuss then let me know and I'll try and write about it.

xoxo Chloe

P.S - This quote pretty much sums up everything I've just said, remember it (I found it on the Internet).

'One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all. One is evil - It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good - It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."'

So, which wolf will you feed?

Outfit wishlist

Right now I'm in bed, writing this post with absolutely no worries of "I have to revise" looming over my head, it's great. I thought that I'd do a clothing wishlist, in the form of a morning, day and night outfit. Because lets face it, almost everyone has a wishlist for clothing because yes you may have five pairs of heels but you don't have a pair that will go with that dress that you just brought. Am I right or am I right? When outfit envy kicks in, that's when the wishlist starts and I can promise you, it will never stop.

My morning outfit is pyjamas because everyone needs a cute set of pyjamas. Personally, a matching set of pyjamas makes me feel like I have my life in order and it makes me feel more organised, weird right? Okay, so the pyjamas that I really like at the moment are these 90's inspired shorts and crop top from topshop. They're so cute and I really like the whole cross back thing going on.

The outfit that I like for the day time is this, I love love love this outfit. When I imagine this outfit, I picture a weekend in Paris, sitting in cute coffee shops down cobbled alleyways. I can't be the only one getting that vibe (I am the only one, aren't I?). I like the top because grey literally goes with anything and everything. Also, the weather is so up and down lately so this would be perfect because it's not a jumper but it is long sleeved and turtle neck so I'd be warm. The skirt, don't get me started on the skirt, I need it in my life. I really like the detail of it, it's so unique and classy and summery and everything I need in an outfit. Of course, baby pink heels and painted toenails are exactly what this outfit needs, like the icing on a cake.

My final outfit is this green playsuit and black t-bar shoes, both from topshop. Totally off topic but am I the only one that used to get mixed playsuits and jumpsuits mixed up? Anyway, I'm really into this kahki green colour at the moment, it's such a nice colour and pretty much goes with any colour. I think I'd wear this outfit to go for a meal or a wedding.

Thank you for reading and I hope I've given you some outfit inspiration. Do you have a clothing wishlist and what are your favourite online stores? I'll be doing another post on Sunday but until then, adioooooos.

Life lately; I'm back

Considering I haven't sat down and wrote a blogpost in around three months, this feels weird (and a bit awkward). But, here I am, finally writing one because I AM BACK. Now, I know I've disappeared off of the face of the earth for quite a while but, I have a valid excuse for that - GCSE's. I'm sure that if you're from the UK then you'll of heard of them and if you're not then allow me to explain. GCSE's are a set of exams that you sit at the end of year eleven (age 16), I've had twenty but the a amount all depends on what subjects you choose. The grades that you get determine whether you can get into certain sixth forms/colleges and the best thing? They "determine your life", which I think is the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard because no matter what I get I'm going to achieve my dreams. So basically, thats what GCSEs are aka hell.

Now you know where I've been, but what have I been doing? Well, I've been revising (watching gossip girl all the time). I've been getting super healthy (I actually stuck to my New Years resolution, horray). Urmm, I don't really know what else I've been doing? The most important thing about these past three months is that I'm a LOT happier, I've never been at as good of a point in my life as I am now and it's all down to changing my mindset. I'm so proud of how far I've come.

Okay, so there's going to be a few changes to my blog, for starters I'm going to be posting on Wednesday's and Sunday's - This might change as time goes on but for now it's what works best. Also, I want to post at least one fashion post weekly because fashion is the thing that I'm most passionate about, I'll be posting things like:  what to wear, ootd/ootn, hauls, lookbooks, wishlists, fashion idols etc... On the other day I'll post either a hair/beauty, lifestyle of fitness post. This summer I'm going to London, France (possibly), Leeds festival and then I have things like prom, beach days, a new job (I'm so nervous) and adventures. So, I'm going to have so much exciting things to post about because I'm determined to make the most out of summer.

Anyway, expect another post on Wednesday. I'm so excited to be back.

ASOS outfit inspiration

Helloooo,

One of my favourite things to do is look at clothes online, I could probably do it for hours if I put my mind to it. Every time I look I always see items of clothing that I could imagine in an outfit together so I decided to to an asos inspired outfit post. I don't really know where I was going with this outfit but I think it would look nice for a meal.

Bralets are really in this season so I just had to include one.

Thank you for reading. What's your favourite site for outfit inspiration?

L'OREAL micellar water | Review

Helloooo,

Today I'm doing a review on a product that you've probably all heard about. I read review after review on it and eventually gave into the urge and bought it. What do you think it is?

It's the Micellar Water by L'OREAL Paris. As you can see I haven't used it that much but I've used it enough to love it and review it.

For starters, this is so affordable, I think I paid either three of four pound for it from Sainsburys in the make up section. You can also get it from boots and superdrug, which are pretty obvious places.

I like apply some of the product onto a cotton pad and then wipe it across my face to remove my makeup. For my eyes I like to just hold the cotton pad on my eye lid and let it dissolve my eye makeup which is normally mascara and eyeliner. I never have to scrub my face with this, it's so gentle and quick to use. Also, it's such a good alternative to remove your makeup if you don't have a skincare routine and just use wipes. It's good for them lazy nights as well, when you just can't be bothered to cleanse and moisturize and all of that sometimes time consuming stuff.

I hope you enjoyed this review and I'll be back on Thursday with another post.

Monthly goals | February

Helloooo,

So, I have this idea of the first post of every month being "monthly goals". I want to choose three goals for every month and see if I can do them. In March I'll see if I've completed my goals and I'll set myself another three. Ooooh, happy February by the way. I hope you have an amazing month.

01. I want to complete all of my English coursework this month. English is the thing that I want to do well in and I have a lot of coursework for other subjects so finishing English will lift a huge weight off of my shoulders.

02. I really want to start doing yoga at least twice a week because it's meant to be really good for you.

03. I feel like I've been a bit of a pushover lately and it really annoys me and makes me angry at myself so this month I'm going to stand up for myself more if I need to.

Sorry that it's such a short post.

Ten things that make me happy

Hellooooo,

So today's post is really short but hey ho. A lot of people write down their ten reasons to be happy every morning and/or night because it supposedly puts you in a more positive mindset. I think it's a really good idea but I literally have no times in the mornings and I have loads to do at night so I thought I'd compile my ten reasons into one post.

one. Coffee. I know it's just a drink but coffee makes me so unbelievably happy, is that weird?? It's just so nice and warm and mmmm

two. Pretty Little Liars. I'm watching it now and I can't believe what's just happened WHAT!!!! I won't say incase I spoil it for anyone but if you haven't ever watched it I highly recommend it.

three. Summer. I used to think I preferred winter but no, I definitely prefer summer and I can't wait any longer for it to come around.

four. I love my bed and sleep, who doesn't? My bed is so so comfy and I just love getting into it and being all warm. I hate when I'm tired but overthinking and can't sleep, it's so annoying.

five. This sounds really cliche and cheesy but my friends, particularly my bestfriend. I actually don't know what I'd do without her, we really annoy each other but when we we're together all we do is laugh and talk about anything and everything.

six. Makeup. I probably wouldn't of started this blog if it wasn't for makeup so I HAVE to include it. I really like how you can decorate your face and make it look like however you want.

seven. Evenings. I really like evenings, especially rainy ones. It's so nice just getting tucked into bed and watching a movie ahhhhh I just love it.

eight. Traveling. Visiting new places makes me really happy.

nine. Car journeys.

ten. Finally, the beach. The beach makes me happy because it such a nice place to be.

Thank you for reading, what are ten things that make you happy?

My Pamper Night

Helloooo,

Today I thought I'd tell you all about my pamper night routine. I think it's so important to have a pamper night at least once a week where you can just completely relax and shut everything off. I aim to try and do this once or twice a week, depending on how much time I have. Personally, I think it's so therapeutic and a crucial part of my beauty regime.

To start my pamper nights I'll always take my make up off. If you're interested in seeing how I do that then check out my last blogpost where I write all about my skincare routine. If I'm having a pamper night I'll normally always exfoliate my face. It's probably the only time I do it in the week which makes my skin feel extra clean and refreshed.

I then run a bath. I don't know about you but if I'm having a pamper night I can't have a shower, I think it completely defeats the idea of being relaxing. Anyway, who wants to stand up when they can lay down in a comfort of warmth? In the bath I usually put either a bath bomb in or bubble bath. Also, I have to have a glass of water to cool me down otherwise the heat of the bath makes me feel really dizzy. Does anyone else get this?

Its not a pamper night if you don't apply a face mask, who's with me? Depending on how my skins feeling/looking, I'll either choose a clay one or peel off one. This time I used the clay mask. It's a detox mask and oh my, it's so good. It smells amazing as well, like berries.

Whilst I have my face mask on I wash my hair. I'm loving using the Umberto Giannini curl friends at the moment. I won't go into too much detail about it as I'm planning on doing a review but it leaves my hair smelling so nice and feeling super soft.
Once my hairs all washed I use two soap and glory products, clean on me and the scrub of your life. Clean on me is quickly becoming one of my favourites, it's a body wash that smells really good and it's moisturising. The scrub of your life has been making my skin so soft, I can't even put into words how much I highly recommend this product to you.

When I'm all finished in the bath I moisturise. Firstly I use a sweet obsessions body butter, it deeply moisturises my skin and leaves me smelling of chocolate (Which is always a benefit). Then I use heel genius by soap and glory. This product is so underrated, my heels have never felt so soft. Then I use a Nivea hand cream. I use these products on a daily basis and they're working wonders for me. Once I've finished moisturising I normally get changed into comfy pyjamas and fluffy socks.

I then light some candles in my room.
Normally, I'd paint my nails a colour but at the moment I'm trying out the OPI nail strengthener so that's what I painted my nails with. Has anyone else tried his product out?
I then get into bed and either read, listen to music or watch Netflix and YouTube. I decided to watch Netflix because I'm so hooked on Pretty Little Liars at the moment.
That's my pamper night, thank you for reading.

All my love,
A British Brunette xo

My skincare routine | Morning & Night

Helloooooo. Today I'm writing about my skincare routine which as I finally think I've found all of the right products for my skin. I used to just take my make up of with a wipe (the horror) and then go to bed thinking that my face was all clean and fresh. How oblivious was I? Now I'm finally seeing all he benefits of a skin care routine and I highly recommend you get one (if you haven't already). Your skin will start to get better especially if you drink water, eat healthy and try not to wear foundation every day.

Both morning and night I wash my face with a Nivea cleanser. I really like it because it's gentle on my skin and I don't feel like I'm covering my face with loads of harsh chemicals that are going to break me out. After I've cleansed I use a garnier gel wash. This just seems to liven up my face and even out my skin tone. At night I use the garnier refreshing toner, this is so so good. The reason why I don't use it twice a day is because I found that it was breaking me out so I completely stopped using it but then my skin went too oily and broke me out. Also, I only use the toner on my t zone.

After I've washed and toned my face I apply the no7 eye serum to my eyelids and under my eyes, after I've rubbed that in I use the no7 eye cream. Before I got these I never realised how much my eyes were lacking in moisture and softness. I used to get quite bad dark circles under my eyes as well but these have been working wonders and sorting that out.

I then use these two no7 products to moisturise my face. In the mornings I use the day cream and at night I use the night cream (obviously).

Below are some products that aren't part of my daily skincare routine but I still use:

I recently picked up the L'oreal Paris micellear water after hearing such good reviews about it, who would like me to review it? Anyway, I've been using this when I've been wearing makeup (face makeup like: foundation, bronzer, powder etc...) as I find that cleansers and face washes don't fully remove makeup and I'm trying to completely stop using face wipes because of the harsh chemicals in them.

Another thing I've been using recently is this eye makeup remover by No7.

Finally, you've guessed it, it's ANOTHER No7 product. I use this exfoliater once or twice a week as I think it's really important to remove all traces of dry skin and throughly clean your pores. This is such a good product and it's so gentle on my skin which is sometimes quite hard to find with exfoliates.

So, that's my skincare routine. What's yours?

A British Brunette xo

Hello, 2015 | Resolutions

I'm sitting in bed with the heating on and with my candles lit - I don't think I could get any more cosy. It's always when I'm not doing anything in particular that I can reflect the easiest so, I decided that this is the perfect time to think about 2014 and make my resolutions for this year.

It's the end of a year which means the start of a new one (obviously). A new year means many different things including New Years resolutions. I make them every year but never seem to keep them. In order to stick to them, I'm writing mine out for you to see.

Like I've said, every year I make them but don't seem to keep them, the reason for this is because I'm ridiculous when I write them out. I found my ones for this year (I don't think I completed a single one) and there was a whole list of about thirty resolutions. Yes that's right, THIRTY! So, this year I'm going to keep it minimal and only set myself three.

01. Get healthy. This is probably one of the most if not the most common resolution for a lot of people. I ALWAYS set it and ALWAYS don't keep it. This year is going to be different though, I'm going to get healthy. I don't just mean this as in getting toned (that is a benefit though). What I mean is feeling healthy. I don't want to feel tired anymore. I definitely don't want to get out of breath either. This is going to be suuuuuper hard because I love lying in bed watching a series for about ten hours straight and eating all the junk food under the sun, but I'm determined to do it.

02. I want to get rid of anything negative from my life. Whether it be a person or a thing or whatever, if it's restricting me and holding me back then I'm going to get rid of it. I feel like doing this will help me become a lot more confident in myself as everything will be a lot more positive (hopefully).

03. My last resolution is a mixture of a goal and resolution. I want to start trying really hard in school because I have six months left (six months that I wish would hurry up) and I need to achieve everything I can out of them. In order to do this I need to be more organised and stop procrastinating (that's the resolution side of it)  as I procrastinate every single thing I do. Literally, you can give me something to do and I can easily put it off to the very last minute.

Aren't these just the most cliché resolutions you've ever heard? Anyway, what are your New Years resolutions? I'm really nosy so comment them below and I'll read them.

I hope you have the most amazing year so HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
